As part of the Emergency and Rural Infrastructure Development Program, United Pacific Bridging is actively supporting the people and government of PNG through the delivery of vital bridging infrastructure over the next five years.

This important project, which includes 2,000 metres of steel panel bridges, will significantly improve the daily lives of PNG residents, as well as access to community aid, education and trade.

Yalo Bridge: Connecting Communities in Papua New Guinea

At United Pacific Bridging, we are immensely proud to announce the completion of the Yalo Bridge as part of the transformative “Connect PNG” initiative spearheaded by the Department of Works and Highways. Situated in the Lalibu/Pangia district of the Southern Highlands Province, at an elevation of 1480 meters, this 150-meter-long UPB panel bridge is the largest of its kind in rural Papua New Guinea, showcasing our commitment to innovative engineering and infrastructure development.

Constructed with cutting-edge materials designed for durability and resistance to corrosion, the Yalo Bridge withstands the rigorous weather conditions of the highlands, ensuring long-term reliability and serviceability. Its robust design was meticulously chosen to meet the unique challenges of the area, reinforcing our dedication to quality, sustainability, and innovative engineering.

The impact of the Yalo Bridge since its inauguration has been profound. It has significantly improved transport reliability, making travel safer and more feasible throughout the year, especially during the challenging rainy seasons. This bridge has become a critical artery for local communities, facilitating improved access to healthcare, educational opportunities, and markets, thus driving socio-economic development in the region. This connectivity is vital for the socio-economic development of the area and is a direct reflection of the goals of the “Connect PNG” initiative.

We at United Pacific Bridging take immense pride in this project, not only It showcases the capabilities of modern engineering in overcoming geographical and logistical challenges but also highlights the profound impact that thoughtful infrastructure development can have on rural communities. As PNG continues to develop, projects like the Yalo Bridge will play a pivotal role in shaping a more connected and resilient Papua New Guinea.
